Wall-mounted RFID & contactless reader

FunkyGate contactless reader is the new generation device for high demanding access control systems. Key points are security, interoperability and evolutivity.

Interoperability : not only is FunkyGate able to read serial numbers from virtually any 13.56MHz contactless card (standards ISO/IEC 14443 and 15693), but it is also able to fetch particular data from Mifare or advanced T=CL cards. Furthermore, thanks to its numerous output interfaces, and its fully configurable output format, FunkyGate integrates itself in any access-control system.

Evolutivity : FunkyGate supports 4 different configurations at the same time, thus allowing different types of cards to be used on the site. Furthermore, making it possible to rotate authentication keys periodically leads to improved security.

Security :

  • FunkyGate is the only reader in this range of price being able to communicate safely with NXP Desfire cards (DES or 3-DES ciphered communication). FunkyGate is also able to verify a numeric signature (HMAC-MD5) and to diversicate authentication keys (Mifare and Desfire) for top-of-the-art security level.
  • FunkyGate is equipped with an anti-tamper facility : 2 magnet sensors positioned respectively on the reader's back-face and front-face prevent removal or opening.

Versatile, FunkyGate is available either with dataclock, wiegand or RS485 links (FunkyGate-DW), or with USB or RS-232 interfaces (FunkyGate-SU).

Contactless / RFID reading

  • Multi-protocol Base station (PCD/VCD) in the RFID HF (13.56MHz) band : proximity (standards ISO/IEC 14443 A and B) and vicinity (standards ISO/IEC 15693 and 18000-3),

  • NXP/Philips Semiconductors RC632 chipset, with CRYPTO1 stream cipher unit and secure storage of MIFARE keys,
  • Card operating distance : 0 to 5cm (depending on the card).

Versatile and easy configuration

Configuring FunkyGate (list of cards to be read, output format, ...) is done easily and in a secure manner, even on the field, thanks to « master cards ». The software and the configuration cards are the same for FunkyGate as for RDR-K632, Prox'N'Roll RFID scanner and ProxRunner.

FunkyGate's configuration supports up to 4 type of cards simultaneously, thus allowing to read heterogeneous badges with a single reader.

FunkyGate-DW

FunkyGate-DW is suitable for either RS-485, Dataclock (ISO2 emulation), or Wiegand operation.

RS-485 interface

  • 2-wire bus, up to 14 readers may share the bus, max 30m,
  • Baudrate : 1200 to 38400 bps,
  • Decimal or hexa-decimal ASCII output, length 32 to 128 bits,
  • User interface (LEDs et buzzer) is driven by short commands on the serial link.

Dataclock interface

  • 2-wire output : DATA and CLOCK (active low), max 30m,
  • ISO2/Magstripe output format, 10 decimal digits (40 bits),
  • Host controler drives both LEDs directly.

Wiegand interface

  • 2-wire output : DATA1 and DATA0 (active low), max 30m,
  • Configurable output format (32 to 128 bits),
  • Host controler drives both LEDs directly.

FunkyGate-SU

FunkyGate-DW is suitable for either RS-232 or USB operation (virtual serial port).

RS-232 interface

  • 3-wire link (RX/TX/ground), max 3m,
  • Baudrate : 1200 to 38400 bps,
  • Decimal or hexa-decimal ASCII output, length 32 to 128 bits,
  • User interface (LEDs et buzzer) is driven by short commands on the serial link.

USB interface

  • Powered by the bus (5V, <400mA),
  • Serial port emulation (driver SDD100),
  • Decimal or hexa-decimal ASCII output, length 32 to 128 bits,
  • User interface (LEDs et buzzer) is driven by short commands on the serial link.

FunkyGate-SU is also available as a reader+writer device : FunkyGate/CSB4.
