CompactFlash II contactless reader/writer

SpringProx-CF-UP is a contactless reader / writer usable in any handheld computer (PDA) with a CompactFlash type II slot.

SpringProx-CF-UP reads and writes Philips MIFARE leading products, as well any T=CL compliant tag or card from any other manufacturer.

SpringProx-CF-UP features

Contactless interface

  • Base station (PCD) compliant with ISO/IEC 14443 standard (1, 2, 3 and 4, both type A and type B),
  • T=CL protocol embedded in coupler's firmware (256-byte frames),
  • Supported contactless smartcards (PICC) (partial list) :
    • NXP MIFARE Classic et MIFARE Plus, MIFARE UltraLight, DESfire, ProX, SmartMX,
    • Infineon SLE66, STMicroelectronics ST19, Atmel AT88,
    • S.T. Microelectronics SR176 et SRiX, ASK CTS256B et CTS512B,
    • Inside Contactless PicoTag et HID iClass (numéro de série seulement),
    • Calypso (incl. Innovatron radio protocol « 14443-B' »)
    • Tags specified by NFC Forum : Type 1 (Innovision Jewel or Topaz), Type 2 and Type 4,
    • NFC objects or mobile phones running in 14443 card emulation mode (standards ISO/IEC 18092 and 21481).
  • RFID transmission : 13.56MHz carrier, baudrate 106, 212 or 424 kbps (PCD mode - ISO/IEC 14443 standard),
  • NXP/Philips Semiconductors RC531 chipset, with CRYPTO1 stream cipher unit and secure storage of MIFARE keys,
  • Card operating distance : 0 to 4cm (depending on the card).

Integration in the PDA

  • CompactFlash type II, usable with most handhelds,
  • 3V power supply provided by the PDA itself,
  • Supported OS : PocketPC 2002 and 2003 ; Windows Mobile 2003, 2005 and 2006,
  • Plug & Play operation ( is seen as a standard serial communication port, no driver to install),
  • Unified SpringProx API, available in the developer's kit (SDK for SpringProx on PDA).
