Prox'N'Roll is a small contactless coupler, with funny colors and an exciting look.

There are 2 versions of Prox'N'Roll to fit any application of contactless cards and RFID tags :

Prox'N'Roll PC/SC

Prox'N'Roll PC/SC is a versatile contactless smartcards reader and writer (13.56MHz range). Thanks to its innovative design, Prox'N'Roll seduces end-user in most applications.

Contactless interface

  • PCD compliant with ISO/IEC 14443 (1, 2, 3 and 4, both A and B types),
  • T=CL protocol embedded in coupler's firmware (256-byte frames),
  • Supported contactless smartcards (partial list) :
    • NXP Mifare Classic & Mifare UltraLight, Desfire, ProX, SmartMX,
    • Infineon SLE66, STMicroelectronics ST19, Atmel AT88,
    • ST SR176 and SRiX, ASK CTS256B and CTS512B, Inside PicoTag and HID iClass (read only),
    • Calypso (option),
    • NFC objects or mobile phones in 14443 card emulation mode.
  • 13.56MHz RFID transmission, baudrate 106, 212 or 424 kbps,
  • NXP/Philips Semiconductors MfRC531 chipset featuring CRYPTO1 cipher unit with secure storage for Mifare keys,
  • Card operating distance : 0 to 5cm (depending on the card).

USB PC/SC interface

  • Standard USB CCID profile, compliant with PC/SC version 2 specifications,
  • USB 2.0 full-speed (12Mbit/s), compliant with USB 1.1, powered by the bus,
  • Driver available for both Windows XP/Vista and Linux,
  • Embedded APDU interpreter, giving easy access to memory contactless cards (Mifare and others) through classical READ BINARY and UPDATE BINARY commands,
  • Sample software and development kit for PC/SC available freely.

Legacy mode

This product may also be used in so-called Legacy mode, for a smooth migration of applications already developed for earlier SpringCard contactless couplers (CSB4 and CSB5) :

  • Standard USB CDC-ACM profile, seen as a virtual serial communication port,
  • USB 2.0 full-speed (12Mbit/s), compliant with USB 1.1, powered by the bus,
  • Driver available for both Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Linux,
  • SpringProx API, sample software and SpringProx SDK available for registered developers.

Prox'N'Roll RFID scanner

Prox'N'Roll RFID scanner is the counterpart of a barcode-scanner, in RFID environment.

Working in keyboard emulation mode (standard USB HID profile, no driver required), Prox'N'Roll RFID scanner reads serial numbers from virtually any contactless smarcard or tag at 13.56MHz (ISO/IEC 14443 and 15693 standards).

Prox'N'Roll RFID scanner is also able to fetch data from a memory card (Mifare or other), or from a file in a T=CL smartcard. Reading data from a Desfire card within a secure session (DES/3DES authentication and ciphering) is possible too.

  • Support of any T=CL card by a sequence of APDUs,
  • RFID transmission : 13.56MHz carrier, baudrate 106kpbs (14443) or 26kbps (15693, standard and fast modes),
  • Card operating distance : 0 to 5cm (depending on the card).

Versatile and easy configuration

Configuring Prox'N'Roll RFID scanner (list of cards to be read, output format, keyboard layout...) is done easily and in a secure manner, even on the field, thanks to « master cards ». The software and the configuration cards are the same for Prox'N'Roll RFID scanner as for IWM-K632 wall mounted reader and ProxRunner.

IWM-K632's configuration supports up to 4 type of cards simultaneously, thus allowing to read heterogeneous badges with a single reader.
